The first thing I think many people think about when I say mini sessions is a cute little set-up with props, a quick little session, and 10-15 families having pictures done at the same location back-to-back. Perhaps, I should coin a new term for mini session to differentiate how I run mine versus other photographers.
My mini sessions can potentially run a little longer than 20 minutes. I’m well aware that small children don’t always cooperate and definitely need a hot minute to warm up to the camera. It’s, sometimes, impossible to have that happen in 20 minutes or less. Not to mention much-needed breaks for snacks, bottles, prevent over-stimulation and a moment for breastfeeding moms. By allowing a little extra time for these moments, we’re leaving room for happier little ones and more smiles. Plus, your session is the only session I book for that morning or evening. All my focus is placed on you and your family and giving you quality images from your session. No rushing in and out, and there’s room to decide when a session can go longer or shorter. Plan for, at minimum, a half hour.
There are no fancy old cars or cute props used during any of my sessions. The closest we come to using a prop is a blanket to sit on or wrap up in during those colder evenings. The goal is to give you the most authentic, natural, real and organic feel to your pictures. The focus should be on you and your family – giggles, snuggles, tender moments, locks of little ones’ hair, and playing family games together.
So, what is the major difference between a mini session and a full session? The clearest difference, really, is the number of pictures you will receive when we’re done. You will receive 20+ edited digital photos for a mini-session and 60+ photos for a full session.
